ECO × Three Two weeks ago, Bruker announced the launch of the ECO™ series for X-ray fluorescence, diffraction and chemical crystallography – specifically the S8 TIGER ECO, the D8 ADVANCE ECO and the D8 QUEST ECO.
This new ECO line features an innovative design enabling low cost of ownership (ECOnomical) and minimized consumption of resources (ECOlogical), while also delivering best-in-class analytical performance. At the same time, all instruments within the ECO line provide uncompromising ease-of-use and high instrument uptime, with superb instrument quality and warranty coverage.
The S8 TIGER ECO offers wavelength-dispersive X-ray fluorescence (WDXRF) performance with lower cost of ownership than ever before. Based on Bruker's "Plug 'n Analyze" technology, the S8 TIGER ECO operates without any need for cooling water and compressed air. With the novel S8 TIGER ECO configurations, Bruker addresses the growing demand for economical instruments for process and quality control in cement plants, the petrochemical industry, and for industrial minerals.
The D8 ADVANCE ECO is the latest member of the comprehensive D8 XRD product family. Based on the market-leading DAVINCI design instrument architecture, it combines the proven high performance of the D8 series with easy extensibility and upgradability. The modular design guarantees maximum flexibility for future application demands. The D8 ADVANCE ECO comes with exceptional warranties, impressive safety features, and newest detector and source technology.
The D8 QUEST ECO X-ray chemical crystallography system features the new PHOTON 50™ CMOS detector which is two times larger than traditional CCD cameras. It is capable of high-speed data collection in shutter-less operation mode, ensuring excellent quality of data and unprecedented data acquisition speed. The D8 QUEST ECO has sophisticated new automation of the entire experiment from data collection through structure refinement and report generation. The D8 QUEST ECO can also be upgraded with a number of other high performance source and detector options, including the IμS™ microfocus source and the even larger PHOTON 100™ CMOS detector.
The new ECO line is a significant extension of the Bruker AXS division's product portfolio with X-ray solutions featuring a reduced ecological footprint. The innovations incorporated into the ECO series is the result of Bruker's commitment to deliver high performance solutions with lower cost of ownership.

Materials Science Particle Size Using XRD2 Gamma Profile Analysis Two-dimensional X-ray diffraction (XRD2) patterns can be described by the diffraction intensity distribution in both the 2θ and γ directions. Integration along the 2θ direction, called a γ profile, produces information about material texture, stress and particle size. The size of the particles in a polycrystalline material has significant effects on its properties. This article introduces a method of particle size analysis by γ-profile analysis. Read more

Software DIFFRAC.EVA v3: The Next Era in Phase Analysis DIFFRAC.EVA v3 has been released and is available for download from brukersupport.com. DIFFRAC.EVA v3 is a major upgrade introducing a paradigm change in X-ray powder diffraction: For the first time, analysis of one- and two-dimensional (XRD2) diffraction data has been seamlessly integrated into one software package for qualitative and semi-quantitative data evaluation. 2D frame data can be loaded, displayed, integrated and printed. Integrated 2D data can be directly analyzed in a manner identical to 1D data, taking advantage of all DIFFRAC.EVA features for phase identification, semi-quantitative phase analysis, data graphing and reporting. This version is available as a paid upgrade to users who want to benefit from the new XRD2 capabilities, and free of charge to users who want to benefit from all other new features, including compatibility with the latest ICDD PDF databases and bug fixes, by updating their existing DIFFRAC.EVA software to v3.
