This course is designed for experienced users of the Bruker D8 QUEST or D8 VENTURE systems for X-ray crystal structure determination (chemical crystallography). The course includes instruction and lab time. The training is in English, so participants should have strong English skills.
The course fee is $1,320 USD per person.
Because our courses are interactive and learner-oriented, we limit class size to a minimum of three and a maximum of six. Early enrollment is encouraged as registrations are accepted on a first-come/first-serve basis.
**Each participant will be provided with class materials and lunch daily. While we have computers on-site, it is recommended that each participant bring a laptop. It is highly recommended to fly into Madison (MSN) on Sunday afternoon/evening and fly out Wednesday to be able to attend the full course.
This course runs 9am-5pm, Monday & Tuesday and covers the following:
Discussion of data collection techniques and strategies for difficult problems
Small or weakly diffracting samples
Unstable or air-sensitive samples
Hands-on use of a Bruker single crystal diffraction system with low-temperature device
Structure determination with APEX3 software suite for challenging samples: disorder and twinning
Data collection strategies
Advanced data integration and analysis techniques
Advanced structure determination and refinement techniques
Routine maintenance of software and hardware
Students are encouraged to bring his/her own samples and problem data
