Bruker AXS cordially invites you to the 2014 XRD² Workshop. The workshop will focus exclusively on theory and applications of XRD², or X-ray Diffraction (XRD) with a 2-dimensional (2D) detector.
Description The technical program of the workshop will consist of instructive presentations and hands-on sessions taught by Bruker XRD² experts including senior applications scientists. Each full day will cover two application topics with at least one application example presentation from current XRD² users from academia or industry.
Tuesday, September 9 1:00PM-4:00PM
Introductory presentions on XRD2 with theory, hardware configurations and application overview followed by an application lab tour.
Wednesday, September 10 9:00AM-4:30PM
Applications focused presentation on general micro-diffraction (phase ID, crystallite size, quantification) and thin-film diffraction with a 2D (including phase ID on textured films, XRR, RSM). This will include dedicated hardware and software hands-on sessions for both applicatons.
Wednesday, September 10 7:00PM
Applications Network with workshop instructors and other attendees while enjoying refreshments such as locally reknowned Great Dane Pub micro-brews, cheese curds, and other local favorites.
Thursday, September 11 9:00AM-4:30PM
Applications focused presentation on texture (including measurement strategies, pole figure generation, and ODF analysis), and residual stress (including data collection strategies, and stress determination from 2D diffraction data). This will include dedicated hardware and software hands-on sessions for both applications.
Registration
Non-student registration fee $250 Student registration fee $100
Includes full workshop attendence, Wednesday & Thursday catered lunch, Wednesday evening social event at the Great Dane, and course materials.
Who should attend? This event in intended for novice, expert, and future user's of Bruker XRD² diffraction systems for general (non-SC-XRD) diffraction applications. The hands-on sessions will be conducted on a Bruker D8 DISCOVER with 2D detector. The workshop should provide an excellent learning opportunity, as well as venue for the exchange of ideas among a highly interdisciplinary group of scientists.
