How to Increase Productivity in Mining with modern XRF Analysis

January, 29 2015

Process and grade control of mined materials has become a challenging task in mining operations today. Low grade ores with frequent changes in mineralogy are the future materials source for the metal industry, but setting up and maintaining analytical strategies in the mining lab is becoming more difficult. Further, new environmental regulations are enforcing control of hazardous elements in final products. The implementation of analytical process control in the mine is therefore vital for ensuring cost-efficiency and productivity.

X-ray fluorescence analysis (XRF) is known for its very short time-to-result, its high level of accuracy and precision, and its simple sample preparation paired with its ease of analytical process automation. All of this is making XRF the most optimally-suited analytical method for process and grade control in mining operations.

This one-hour webinar will explain how modern XRF instruments, such as the S8 TIGER or
S8 DRAGON, help mining operations achieve higher productivity and efficiency. Mining applications experts Dr. Kai Behrens and Frank Portala will demonstrate latest XRF solutions to solve current applications in mining using examples from iron and copper ores. They will also discuss typical mining applications – from process control to grade control before material shipment.
