Elemental Analysis without Time-Consuming Sample Digestion

Join us for an EDXRF webinar - register now!

Chemical elemental analysis in the mining and minerals industry is often very time-consuming. The materials to be analyzed, samples of stone or rock, usually require intensive sample preparation steps with chemical digestions. In addition, these digestions take some time and demand strong, aggressive chemical acids. All in all such sample preparation is expensive and hazardous and burdens the cost for the chemical analysis performed later on by wet-chemical analysis, titration or atomic absorption (AAS).

In comparison to the mentioned techniques, X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) does not require such extensive sample preparation and therefore chemical information are much faster and at lower costs available.

This 45-minute webinar explains how energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (EDXRF) replaces time-consuming, conventional wet-chemistry analysis in the mining and mineral industry. The webinar begins with a basic introduction into EDXRF and explains the advantages and benefits of XRF elemental analysis for this industry. Further on detailed analysis data are shown for geological applications of feldspars, gypsum and carbonate rocks, iron ores and phosphate rocks. The high degree of accuracy and precision achieved by the instrument discussed demonstrate the suitability for monitoring the chemical composition of the different materials.
