Improving the Bottom Line in Mining with X-ray Analysis

Educational webinar -  sign up now!

Faced with decreasing ore grades, increasingly complex mineralogy, and harder ores, modern mines must become more efficient to be successful.  New process and quality control instruments capable of providing more detailed information about the ore body, in real time, are needed to help solve this problem. X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) are two complimentary analytical techniques that are ideally suited for this purpose.

XRF is an elemental analysis technique that can be brought into the process. The new, online XRF analyzer
S2 KODIAK provides real-time information about major, minor and trace elements from 60-70% down to ppm level without additional sample preparation. By combining lab-based quality control with online process control, the S2 KODIAK offers entry to the next level of mining efficiency.

XRD is used to determine the mineralogy of bulk ore. The combination of a fast X-ray detector and TOPAS quantitative phase analysis (QPA) software allows standardless analysis within minutes  -- on a Bruker automated diffractometer, such as the D4 ENDEAVOR,
or even on a benchtop XRD instrument, such as the
D2 PHASER.

In this one-hour educational webinar, Bruker technical experts will present the latest in XRF and XRD analytical methods and instrumentation for industrial mining and minerals applications. Panelists Arkady Buman, Kai Behrens and Brian Jones will show the power of combining XRD with XRF to enhance hydro- and pyro-metallurgical mining steps in order to increase the output of high-grade ore.
